Social Media can be a great resource to connect socially with friends, find community resources and happenings, and learn new things from TikTok and influencers. Most of us have at least one account and depend heavily on it, whether it be for our small business, or to stay in contact and connected with those we care about. However, no matter whether you’re a pro influencer or a newbie with three followers, you need to think about protecting yourself while using your favorite social media platforms. Scammers are out there, and unfortunately, very common now-a-days. Most of us have been targeted, or know of someone who was targeted, while using social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, etc. It is an unfortunate reality that not everyone who requests to follow you has friendly intentions in mind. This is why Moonlit Acres has sought out help to learn ways to protect ourselves while using social media—and The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department’s Cyber Security team has agreed to do it! Join us for a short presentation from Detective Hugh and Detective Ehrhart as they teach us ways to protect ourselves and troubleshoot situations once the scammers have tricked us into giving them valuable information. Following this educational session, we will host a game using the information in hopes that guests will leave remembering the content that will protect themselves the next time they log onto their accounts. Guests, parents, support staff, and anyone who can benefit from this free educational offering are encouraged to sign up. Please sign up as spots are limited.
